The restaurant was a cozy experience for a celebration dinner. Highlight of the meal was the Pineapple Hand Pie, it was delicious, warm, and fresh. The chips and dip are a must for the starter. The roast chicken was good but there is a 1hr 15 min wait for the chicken. Overall, a nice experience.

Early Valentine's Day went right! Me and my partner just moved to DC and wanted to treat ourselves to a special meal. Kinship is an upscale casual restaurant combining exquisite culinary skills ("craft" section of the menu) with worldly flavors ("history" section of the menu) while utilizing FRESH ingredients ("ingredients" section of the menu) for a texture and flavor explosion. I wish I could give suggestions of what to get, but apparently the menu changes frequently. Just know you can't go wrong... at least we didn't. Each dish had their own special thing about it. Order whatever, have fun. We originally were going to sit at a table, but we came early to sit at the bar and have a drink. Turns out, the bar service was incredible. We ended up giving up our table to sit at the bar. If you come to the bar, ask for Devin and Ronaldo. These two MADE our experience and, other than the food, are a big reason we will return. They gave us fantastic recommendations while making us feel like we were coming back home for dinner. I understand why this has a Michalein Star. For a whole meal, you are definitely paying for what you get, so come for a special occasion. Or, honestly, it wouldn't be incorrect to just come for a drink and the Parker House Rolls (some of the BEST dinner rolls I've had).

TL;DR The food, the service and the vibe were good, but not exceptional and it's not worth the price. If you've never been here, give it a try, but I wouldn't come back. Food: 4/5 * I ordered the squash soup, lobster toast, tuna tataki, the ribeye for food, the pear crisp and chocolate pave for desserts. * The lobster french toast was unique and I quite enjoyed it. However, other than that, everything else was good but not exceptional (Especially when you consider the price tag.) Service: 4/5 * Attentive. No complaints but not exceptional either. Vibe: 5/5 * The lighting and mood feels good. Kinda dig it.

This was out final meal in DC and our 2nd Michelin-star restaurant. The restaurant itself is beautiful, with a very minimalist yet chic vibe. Our server, Kevin, was very friendly, though we had a little bit of a mishap with timing, as our food was coming out a bit more quickly than the wine. Kevin explained the hierarchy of the menu, with dishes that are lighter to heavier; at first it appeared that we needed to choose a category from which to order, but that is not true. You can order anything you want from any part of the menu. The food changes seasonally, so it's hard to say what you'll be able to try when you go. We enjoyed the Polenta Agnolotti, the Bluefin Tuna Tataki, the Sea Scallop (my favorite thing), and the Honey Glazed Shoat Shoulder (weaned piglet). Everything we had was good, even very good, but we weren't wowed by the experience. It's definitely a nice meal with great service and it feels like a good special-occasion spot; perhaps we were just unfairly comparing it to our experience at Rose's Luxury a couple days prior. For me, what makes this 4 stars instead of 5 is, if asked would I go here again when I'm visiting DC, I probably wouldn't, but I do suggest that people give it a try.

Was taken here for my birthday and overall this was a great experience! From the Michelin star restaurants I been to, ambiance wise, this is the one that felt is what is expected. Very classy, upscale. Great place to dress up and have a more professional setting. Service was great, the team overall treated us very well, nothing special though. Food was great, loved the steak and the sauce. The team was very accommodating to my diet restrictions all the way thru dessert. Worth the price!

We made a reservation on Kinship's website which also required a deposit that is applied to your final bill. The food and service was excellent. The servers were very attentive to our needs. My only complaint would be that I could hear all the conversations around me. It was especially distracting when some of the tables around us were extra loud. We got the catalan spiced confit squid, St. Martin cocoa rubbed duck breast, braised lamb crepinete, kinship opera cake, and they brought a surprise extra dessert for our celebration. The food was really well balanced. Our favorite dish was the squid. It was so smooth and it just melted in your mouth. Price wise, this was as expected since this is a Michelin restaurant, but we had an excellent dining experience. The atmosphere though could use some work.
